[PLACEHOLDER] From spreadsheet chaos to Series A ready

A seed-stage SaaS business, London
Bridgepoint Labs had strong early traction and a growing team but their financial infrastructure hadn't kept pace. The founder was managing finances through a patchwork of spreadsheets, a bookkeeper handling month-end, and a gut feel for runway. With a Series A on the horizon, that wasn't going to be enough.
The challenge
The model couldn't survive investor scrutiny. Assumptions were inconsistent, unit economics weren't tracked, and there was no board-ready reporting pack. The founder knew the numbers weren't right but didn't have the time or the expertise to fix them. Every investor conversation stalled at the same point.
Momentum's approach
We embedded as the CFO function six months before the raise. The first priority was rebuilding the financial model from the ground up: a three-statement model with real unit economics, investor-ready scenarios, and a single source of truth for actuals and forecasts. We built a board reporting pack alongside it so the founder could show up to every investor conversation with clean, consistent numbers.
Once the foundations were solid, we turned to the raise itself. We shaped the narrative, stress-tested the valuation, built the data room, and managed the investor process from first conversation through to term sheet.
The outcome
The Series A closed four months after we got involved, at a valuation the founder was confident defending. The data room had no material queries. The board pack that started as a fundraising tool is now how the business runs its monthly reporting.
“
Momentum CFOs didn't just fix our model. They changed how we think about our numbers. We walked into every investor meeting knowing exactly what we were going to be asked and exactly how to answer it."
